Goals Magazine: Joseph Bonner and the Goal Behind Two Dozen Releases
Big goals can feel impossible on day one. Joseph Bonner's 2026 shows what happens when you break one into pieces and keep showing up. The California singer and songwriter has released more than two dozen titles this year, from singles to two full albums.
Bonner keeps his own approach simple. "A big goal is just a lot of small promises you keep to yourself," he says. "I made a promise to keep releasing music, and every song was me keeping that promise one more time."
Start With One Step
His year began with a single called "Patient," a fitting first step for anyone with a long list ahead. "Snakes" and "Unbroken" followed. One release at a time, the list grew.
That first step matters more than people think. Many goals stall not because they are too hard but because they never really begin. Releasing a song called "Patient" at the start of the year was a quiet signal that this would be a long game, played one move at a time.
Stretch Into New Territory
Growth goals often mean leaving your comfort zone. Bonner did that by recording in Spanish with "Notificación De Tus Recuerdos" and "Un Corazón Sin Dirección," and in Korean with the spring single "진달래 봄." His music now moves between pop, dance, hip-hop, Latin and K-pop.
Stretch goals come with fear, and he does not pretend otherwise. "Recording in a language I did not grow up speaking scared me," Bonner says. "That is exactly why I did it. The things that scare you are usually the things that grow you."
Celebrate the Milestones
March brought two big milestones in one month: the album Boy on March 4 and the travel inspired Island Boy on March 20. Then came "Paris," "Sri Lanka" and "Ten Degree," and in the fall, the personal singles "I Pray," "My Brother," "God Raised Me," "Father's Open Arms" and "Cousins For Life."
Milestones are worth marking because they remind you how far you have come. Two albums in one month is the kind of moment that can carry a person through the slower weeks that follow. For Bonner, the fall singles show the next stage of growth: turning attention toward the people who made the journey possible.
Keep Your Eyes on the Light
His newest single, "Always Been You," released October 7, 2026, is a love song, but its lyrics travel well to any goal. "Now we're stepping out the dark, straight into the light," he sings. And this one belongs on a vision board: "Forever started with a single spark."
Setbacks are part of the process too, and his catalog makes room for them. Songs titled "Unbroken" and "Bend Don't Break" read like reminders written for hard days. "I have been knocked down more times than I can count," he says. "Getting back up is not a talent. It is a habit, and anybody can build it."
Track Your Progress in Public
His official YouTube artist channel, youtube.com/@JosephBonner, puts his music videos and releases in one place. It is a visible scoreboard of a year of work. Stream the full catalog on Spotify and Apple Music, and follow along on Instagram and TikTok.
Sharing progress publicly can also create accountability. When the work is visible, it becomes harder to quit quietly. Every upload is a small milestone that others can see, and that visibility adds a layer of motivation that private goals often lack.
Readers who want to apply the same idea can start small: choose a goal, set a regular checkpoint and share each finished piece with someone who will cheer you on.
His new channel is a reminder that the scoreboard does not have to be fancy. It just has to be honest, updated and visible.
Your Turn
Pick the goal. Break it down. Take the first step, then the next. As one of his song titles puts it: "Bend Don't Break."
